Storage and hosting

What if you already have mission-critical systems? Your high-volume resellers may well be the ones that have the most robust systems, and they're going to want to get the most out of them. Or put it this way. If I've shelled out for 500Mb of disk space from UK2 (I work for UK2, hence the example), and I've got 350Mb free - not unusual - and I buy a typepad blogware account, and I have to pay again for more than, say, 10Mb of webspace (I can't remember the pricing model), well, I'm going to wonder. Why is my blog disk space different from the rest of my webspace? Why don't my webstats cover both systems? If the blogware system is going to successfully appeal to the large number of Tucows resellers who host thousands of sites, it has to integrate better into their systems. Pointing blog.example.com at a blogware server isn't going to cut it. Of course, I agree that the alternative, the Blogger model, gets rid of all sorts of funky dynamic CGI-driven stuff. I don't pretend to have all the answers. But I think this is an important problem that someone has to solve, and whether it's TypePad or BlogWare will determine who wins the second generation hosted blog battle.
