Here's a series of icons that I call "Dread Pirate Roberts". You can use them in your blog for decoration, as permalink icons or as favicons. They're completely license- and royalty-free -- feel free to use 'em in your personal or commercial blogs!

(There are also some free icons in this article.)

Here's the Dread Pirate Roberts icon at 128 by 128 pixels. You might not want to use this as a permalink icon, but it would look pretty pirate-keen at the top of your blog pages.

If the 128 by 128 size is a bit much, you can try a slightly smaller Dread Pirate Roberts at 100 by 100 pixels.

The 72 by 72 pixel Dread Priate Roberts should take up one square inch on most people's screens.

The 48 by 48 Dread Pirate Roberts is a nice compromise betweel detail and screen real estate-efficiency.

The 36 by 36, 24 by 24, 18 by 18 versions of the icon make handy permalink icons. See Blogware Mechanic #1, Customizing Your Permalink Icons, to see how it's done.

And finally, we have the 16 by 16 icon.  It's teensy, but perfect for use as a favicon, which I cover in Blogware Mechanic #2, Favicons and Filesystems.
